Gravenhurst: Gateway to Great Beer

1
Sawdust City Brewing Co. — Gravenhurst
Named for the logging heritage of Gravenhurst, Sawdust City is Muskoka's most celebrated brewery and a local institution. Their 20,000 sq ft taproom — anchored by a 24-foot live-edge pine bar — pours 12 draught lines of award-winning, boundary-pushing craft beers. Don't miss the Lone Pine IPA or the crisp Little Norway Pilsner. Saturday brewery tours run 1–3pm by appointment. Live music every Friday and Saturday night makes this an evening destination as much as an afternoon stop.

Bracebridge: Muskoka's Brewing Heart
2
Muskoka Brewery — Bracebridge
The original. Founded in 1996, Muskoka Brewery is one of Ontario's iconic independent craft breweries — and a rite of passage for any cottage country visitor. Their sprawling 40,000 sq ft facility offers guided Saturday tours (1–3pm) that take you behind the scenes of how their much-loved beers are made. Sample the flagship Cream Ale, the Mad Tom IPA, or the seasonal Shinnicked Stout (infused with Muskoka Roastery coffee). A large outdoor patio, frequent live music nights, and a well-stocked retail store make this an unmissable Bracebridge stop.
3
Katalyst Brewing — Bracebridge
Tucked inside the historic Granary Building on Taylor Road — the same landmark that housed Muskoka Brewing from 1994 to 2012 — Katalyst is Bracebridge's most adventurous and intimate taproom. Husband-and-wife team Mark and Krystal Verok rotate a new beer every two weeks, from smoky porters to experimental sours. Ten taps, a bottle shop, and a cozy taproom surrounded by Bracebridge's charming main strip. A wonderful second act for a storied address.
4
Lake of Bays Bracebridge Barrelhouse — Bracebridge
Lake of Bays' downtown Bracebridge outpost is the place to explore their barrel-aged and experimental small-batch creations alongside their beloved core lineup. The Barrelhouse is warm, welcoming, and perpetually buzzing with live music, trivia nights, and beer pairing dinners. If you've had the Paddle On Session IPA before, prepare to discover a whole new side of the brewery here.

5
Canvas Brewing Co. — Huntsville
Born from a love of the local landscape, Canvas is Huntsville's craft beer jewel. Their modern taproom — complete with an impressive event space and an irresistible snack menu — is just a short walk from Huntsville's charming downtown waterfront. The debut Canvas Kölsch is still a crowd favourite: a German-inspired lagered ale that's crisp, dry, and made for cottage country afternoons. Pair a pint with their "Beergarit" cocktail twist before strolling the art installations and boutique shops along Main Street.
6
Huntsville Brewhouse (Lake of Bays) — Huntsville
Just east of the swing bridge in downtown Huntsville, the Lake of Bays Brewhouse is a 20-tap taproom and microbrewery pouring both classic Lake of Bays favourites and small-batch brews made on-site. The 3,200 sq ft space is also available for private events — perfect for celebrating a cottage reunion in style. Settle in for the Flight Plan Double IPA and let the evening unfold.
